An extra pair of eyes
Maybe you are an advertising agency who has a huge website to launch next week and your Account Handlers are too busy to trawl through it with a fine toothed comb?
Or a writer who has reread your piece of work so many times you can't see the forest for the trees anymore?
Or even a business looking for some help writing some marketing copy?
Either way, get in touch to discuss your requirements.
Whether the original source material is a typed Word document or a fully artworked piece of marketing, Maddie will mark up any errors and inconsistencies in a clear and simple manner, using internationally recognised proofreading symbols if requested.
The material can then be provided back either as a hard copy in the post (if time requires and the client requests this) or most likely as a scanned-in PDF attachment sent as an email.
A flexible service
Having spent her career working in the advertising industry, Maddie understands that the large majority of work is passed from agency to supplier at the end of the working day. With flexible working hours, Maddie has the ability to work into the evening, which means that, provided the job is of an appropriate size, she could have the proofed material in her client's email inbox by the start of the next working day. How's that for a convenient and flexible service!
A 24-hour international office?
Global time differences can be a wonderful thing! Imagine a scenario where an agency or firm in Australia completes a website by close of play their time, but needs it proofread before the big launch the following day. Maddie's flexible working hour approach means they can simply email the details to her and she can set to work on it at what is now the start of the working day in the UK. Having Maddie and her 'virtual global office' on hand means the working day doesn't have to end for your company.
Maddie is also a freelance copywriter and will provide you with advertising copy for your website, online marketing, social media page, brochure, ad, presentation and more.
Prices will depend on the specifics of the job, including the work needed, the length of the piece and the turnaround time.
To discuss your specific project in more detail, or for a quote, contact Maddie today.
Maddie is also a freelance journalist who mainly writes about parenting issues, such as pregnancy, birth, child raising, family-friendly travel, fun family activities, anti-bullying awareness, and gender and environmental issues.
She has been commissioned/published by publications such as The Daily Mail's Femail magazine, Prima Baby & Pregnancy magazine and The Green Parent magazine, and has a regular monthly column in 'Women Actually' section of The Argus newspaper called Think Beyond Pink. She has ghostwritten for Huffington Post and also writes regular articles for Ecooutfitters and Closer To The Kids.
If you'd like to discuss commissioning an article, please contact Maddie today.
In her spare time, Maddie runs a blog called Gammon & Chips, which follows the lives of her family and her two children, affectionately nicknamed 'Gammon' and 'Chips'.
The blog is a Finalist in the 2014 MAD Blog Awards in the Outstanding Contribution category and was a finalist in two categories at the 2013 MAD Blog Awards - 'Best Writer' and 'Best Family Fun'. It was also shortlisted in the 'Commentary and Campaigns' category of the 2014 Brilliance in Blogging Awards (BiBs) and in the 'Best Writer' category of the 2013 BiBs.
Maddie was chosen as one of five Inspirational Bloggers of 2013 by Tots100 for her anti-bullying work on the Love for Izzy Dix campaign.
In November 2013, Maddie was invited to speak on a panel at Mumsnet Blogfest called 'How Blogging and Social Media Can Change the World', along with Laura Bates from the Everyday Sexism campaign, Tanya Barrow of Team Honk, Tania Tirraoro of Special Needs Jungle and Helen Lewis (Deputy Editor of New Statesman).

What my customers say about me
“Maddie has become the ‘go-to’ proofreader for our undergraduate and postgraduate prospectuses. She swiftly got to grips with the University’s house style and her work is of an exceptional standard – she never fails to pick up on issues and inconsistencies that we have missed. She has made my job considerably easier: when I send a prospectus to senior management for sign-off ahead of going to press, I am confident that it is as close to perfect as it possibly can be! Maddie is also a pleasure to work with: we really appreciate her patience, efficiency and flexibility.”
“Maddie worked remotely for BD for over a year, and while we never met, she consistently turned in great work, was always friendly and receptive, and never missed a deadline despite our outrageous demands! We will definitely be using her services again.”
“Maddie is an exceptional and versatile copywriter. She quickly gets to grips with our client’s requirements, producing superior writing that meets their brief and budgets. Her attention-to-detail means mistakes, typos and dreadful punctuation never make it past her final edit.”
“Maddie was a pleasure to work with, very concise and clear in her amends and impressively thorough. We will be using her again for future print pieces and would happily recommend her to others.”
“Maddie is meticulous in her proofreading and attention to detail.
Nuffin Nothing will escape her scrutiny.”
“Maddie is a perfectionist. She has an excellent grasp of the English language and is thorough and dedicated to getting the job done right. The work would be delivered on time, on budget and perfect - there are few people that can make such a claim. I would hire her again and again and again . . .”
“The fact that Maddie decided to forge a career as a Proofreader was the least surprising news I'd ever heard. Her natural eagle eye for each and every detail was renowned across the agency when we worked together. I would trust her every time to deliver work with zero errors. In fact, during our time together, the Quality Control on her accounts rose to a perfect record. If you want word perfect work, Maddie definitely possesses the required obsessive compulsive qualities you're after.”
“I worked with Maddie for over 2 years and she is an excellent proofreader. She thoroughly checks every piece of work for grammar and typos, and whether the piece is a poster or a 40-page brochure, it gets the same attention to detail. Maddie has worked in high-pressured environments and on extremely fast-paced accounts (such as Sky), and her organisation and reliability means that she delivers every time. I can thoroughly recommend her services.”
“I had the pleasure of working with Maddie in 2009 when I was one of her clients. I would not hesitate to recommend Maddie to anyone looking for great attention to detail and 100% accuracy. Maddie Sinclair Proofreading will provide service(s) as mutually agreed and confirmed in writing by the Client.
The work will be carried out unsupervised at such times and places as determined by Maddie Sinclair Proofreading, using own equipment.
Samples of work will be requested prior to giving a project quote, to ensure the service quoted for is what the Client is looking for.
The quote may be a fee per hour OR per printed page OR per thousand words OR an agreed flat fee for the project, and will be based on required Client level of turnaround time (e.g. standard, 48 hours, 24 hours).
Only written quotes are binding (e.g. email, post, fax). Verbal quotes are not binding.
If the scope or length of the project changes significantly from when the initial quote is given, the quote may be altered by agreement. If not otherwise discussed, the original fee still applies.
Quotes are valid for 30 days from date of issue.
Quotes are given on the basis that the entire document is sent at once, unless otherwise agreed.
All quotes are based on Maddie Sinclair Proofreading providing one round of proofreading amends, unless otherwise agreed.
All work is guaranteed confidential. All copyright remains with the author of the piece.
Any content created by Maddie Sinclair Proofreading as part of the proofreading/copy editing process will become the copyright of the Client, unless otherwise agreed.

Final liability for the document rests with the author, and whilst the utmost care will be taken to identify errors, it is conceivable that on occasion errors will be missed due to human error. Maddie Sinclair Proofreading will not be liable for any losses resulting from missed errors or proofreading/copy editing advice provided, including loss of profit, income, revenue, anticipated savings, contracts, business, goodwill, reputation, data, or information. Maddie Sinclair Proofreading will not be liable for any consequential, indirect or special loss or damage. Maddie Sinclair Proofreading will not be liable for any loss or damage arising out of any event or events beyond our reasonable control.
The standard proofreading or copy editing service is to highlight errors in copy. Although the functionality of digital proofreading means that these errors are often corrected by the proofreader, it is not the responsibility of Maddie Sinclair Proofreading to action changes.
If you are a student, having your work proofread or copy edited for larger structural and linguistic concerns does not constitute plagiarism.
For international students, work will only be proofread or edited with a statement in writing from the student that they are not being assessed on their English language abilities.
Clients will receive an indication of estimated timescale along with the quote, unless otherwise agreed, and this will be linked to the turnaround time level required by the Client (e.g. standard, 48 hours, 24 hours).
The meeting of this timescale is dependent on the work being sent to Maddie Sinclair Proofreading at the agreed date and time. If the document is sent later than planned by the Client, a revised timescale may be given.

In the interests of urgency, it is always best to advise Maddie Sinclair Proofreading that a document has been emailed with a follow-up phone call or text message.
Every effort will be made to meet deadlines. If external circumstances beyond the control of Maddie Sinclair Proofreading are likely to cause possible delays, the Client will be notified at the earliest opportunity.
Delivery of documents from Maddie Sinclair Proofreading to Client is deemed to have occurred at the time the email programme confirms that an email has been sent. It is the Client's responsibility to confirm receipt of the proofed document as soon as it is acknowledged in their in-box. For urgent jobs, Maddie Sinclair Proofreading will follow-up receipt with a phone call or text message if email receipt confirmation has not been received within 1 hour.
Quote or timescale revisions
The completed work will be delivered on or before the date agreed, for the agreed fee, which will be based on a quote provided to the Client by Maddie Sinclair Proofreading, or based on a per hour, per page, or per thousand word agreement.
If on receipt of the document to be worked on, or at an early stage in the project, it becomes apparent that significantly more work is required than had been anticipated in the preliminary discussion/brief, Maddie Sinclair Proofreading may renegotiate the fee and/or the deadline.
Similarly, if during the term of the project, additional tasks are requested by the Client, Maddie Sinclair Proofreading may renegotiate the fee and/or the deadline, or invoice separately for the additional elements.
Proofreading covers basic errors in spelling, grammar, formatting, syntax and design consistency only. Light editorial advice or minor language suggestions may be given at times. However, if the document received by Maddie Sinclair Proofreading requires more comprehensive copy editing, this will be subject to a new quote.
If the parameters of the job change after the commencement of the project and the quote isn't renegotiated in line with the new parameters, the additional work will be charged at Maddie Sinclair Proofreading's agreed-upon hourly rate, which itself is based on required turnaround time.

Maddie Sinclair Proofreading confirms that she is self-employed, is responsible for her own income tax and National Insurance contributions, and will not claim benefits granted to the Client's employees.
